Three Questions To Ask Yourself Before Buying

Paul Folmsbee is a real estate professional with nearly 20 years experience. He has come up with three important questions he asks himself before purchasing property. You may find these helpful during YOUR home search. Here’s how he explained the process recently to some first-time homebuyers:

The first thing I ask myself is, “How will the next buyer look at this property?” I’m not purchasing something which I will own forever. I don’t want to be “stuck” with something that only I will love.

Next, I ask myself, “Will this be a good investment?” Even if this is the home my family and I will occupy, I want it to perform as well as my other investment property. I like knowing that I am “making money while I sleep!”

Then, I ask myself a third question. Note that this is on the list, but also note its position. “How well will this property meet my needs and satisfy my ego during the time I own it?” I’ve been buying and selling properties for decades. Frankly, I never got “ahead” in real estate until I made this rule Number Three (instead of Number One).
